Happy woodcock

It's my brother's birthday today and I felt like celebrating it with a nice portrait of a woodcock. We have painters and hunters in my family, and this bird is difficult to spot and kind of a mythical one.  So, to my brother the hunter, here is a woodcock from his sister, the painter.

There is something in waking up in the cold of the early morning for a crisp walk in the woods that I really miss. 

So here's to you sweet boy, la bécasse: 

Une bécasse d'anniversaire pour mon grand frère. Ca peut paraitre bizarre, mais dans une famille de chasseurs et de peintres, c'est un oiseau mythique...Je devrais peut-être en faire une série?
