At the Jardin des Plantes

Here is my grandfather, in 1922 or 3 , happy as a lark in the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. I am from the same neighborhood, walked in his steps, but unfortunately I never had a chance to meet him. 

My uncle kindly scans the family archive and email them for us to enjoy, one picture at a time. On this one the chair was an invitation to play...

Un personnage échappé d'un de mes livres s'invite dans les archives de famille...Mon oncle le peintre, à la fin de chacune de ses journées, nous envoie gentiment des photos scannées depuis les archives familiales. Un bel effort, les archives sont un puit sans fond!! Je n'ai pas eu le plaisir de connaitre mon grand-père, et cette photo, ou je lui ressemble un peu, m'a beaucoup touchée.
