Yes - the giraffe - it is my favourite animal.
It's so beautiful, and tall and alien, which is what intrigues me.
I love the giraffe enclosure at the zoo with the tall, tall doors.
And the smell. Whenever I eat mussels, I am reminded of the smell of the giraffe enclosure at the zoo. That's why I love mussels so much.
I read a novel about a giraffe once. It was called "Solange". Maybe it was French?? I can't find it on Amazon. It was the most disturbing book I ever read. The beautiful giraffe, Solange, was such a tragic victim. I felt sick to the pit of my stomach when I finished it. I couldn't move. Eventually I had to leave the book on the seat on the train in the London Dockland's Light Railway without ever looking at it again. It has haunted me ever since.
They have a new giraffe enclosure at San Francisco Zoo. The giraffes have a beautiful new home with tall doors. i hope they are happy there...
